I’m Back!

Kind of.  For the most part.  No promises.

Life has somewhat calmed down a bit.  I’ve gotten into the swing of things with Evelyn, the holidays are over, and I have about a month until I return to work…  SO MUCH has happened over the past few months I don’t even know where to begin.  Obviously the biggest one is I had a baby and she is awesome.  Seriously guys… SO awesome.

I2014-12-21 16.17.41-2 mean, come on!!  She’s so my daughter.

So here goes a massive dump of all the things that come up in my head that I want to tell you about.

My travel business is very exciting.  I have already booked three trips for folks, but no Disney yet.  We’re working on it and I have a lot of people who I know will eventually book trips… and I am working on something HUGE that I will eventually write about.  But not today.  🙂

The other thing is I have discovered the COOLEST company with great food stuff… I am beyond obsessed.  More on THAT later too.  I did one freezer meal workshop and about $150 and 2 hours later I had ten bags ready to go into the freezer.  The meals are delicious.  Also?  The other stuff they sell is out of this world.  The recipes are awesome and I can’t get enough of it.  Wildtree, yall.  Wildtree.

I am also SO excited to say that I have started training again!!  It’s pretty sad… I am back on week one of Couch to 5K and it is ROUGH.  I keep reminding myself how hard it is to get started… but damn.  I gained about 30 lbs while pregnant and even though I had a 6 lb baby I still have 30 lbs to lose.  I have a LONG way to go, guys… so bear with me while I talk about it.  I am really looking forward to losing a little bit of weight so running gets a little bit easier.  Dang.

Speaking of running – I have signed up to run 2,015 miles in 2015.  WITH TWO FRIENDS.  I am not bonkers I know I couldn’t do that by myself – but my two running besties are doing it with me.  One of the girls is a major runner (she’s doing Dopey next week!) and she has like 4 marathons planned for 2015 so she’s doing the bulk of the work.  The other one is like me and is needing to build it back up again.  Plus, she’s working on adopting so once she gets her baby her miles may be lower.  And who knows when I’ll get pregnant again!

That’s something else!  We’re going full on Duggar for baby #2 and leaving it all in God’s hands this year.  Once Evelyn turns one we will go back to the doctor to get back on the miracle drugs that helped us conceive her…

Back to the weight and the food and all that – I am eating my words and doing something I said I would NEVER DO.  A cleanse.

I know.

It’s not one of those juice cleanses or where you only eat 500 calories of bird food a day… it’s not even really a cleanse so much as it is just resetting your body.  I have fallen back into ALL of my old eating habits and it’s borderline disgusting.  You don’t even want to know the amount of food I am eating each day.  Anyways, I have a few friends who are going to do that AdvoCare 24 Day Challenge so I am on board.  We’ll see what happens…  I’m sure I’ll be writing about that too.  Here’s a peek into that meal plan: no alcohol.  I’ll be bitching a LOT about it.  I have a girlfriend ordering all the stuff we need so as soon as I get that – all systems go.

I’m really excited to be back and will probably be adding some fun stuff to the blog… I’ve actually kinda missed this thing!

She’s Here!

Well… she’s been here for 20 days I just haven’t sat down to blog about it!

Evelyn Elizabeth was born on November 4th, 2014 at 5:49 in the afternoon.  She was a whopping 6 pounds and 13 ounces… 18.25 inches long!  She is a teeny tiny little peanut and we couldn’t be more in love.  Motherhood is pretty fun… she is a really great baby.  I still look down at her and go “holy crap, I made that…”

We’re home, getting to know this little stranger and loving every minute of it.  With the holidays around the corner – lets be honest – I’ll be gone for a while.  This blog has been a lot of fun but it’s become pretty obvious that it’s not much of a priority for me these days.  I did want to come in and let you all know that Princess Olaf is here at last!

I hope to come back to blogging one day… it really can be a lot of fun when I put in the time and effort.  My guess is once I start training again for my 2015 race schedule I will be back!!

I hope everyone has a fantastic holiday season, and loves every minute of every day.

Thanks for all the love and support during my pregnancy!  Now it’s time to go and snuggle Evy…

XOXOXO

Still Here… Still Pregnant

This poor blog.

Maybe after Olaf is here I will get inspired to write again, but as of right now I just don’t have it in me.  I’m really thinking once we get into a routine and I start training again I will have much more to say.  I hope, at least.  I do kind of miss blogging…

Y’all – being pregnant is hard.  I mean, it was hard to GET pregnant and now it’s a different kind of hard.  The first and second trimesters were a breeze, but the third is different.  Physically it is hard now because I feel huge… but mentally this is maybe the hardest thing I’ve done.

Everything I say I want to do as a parent is already questioned.  It’s also, apparently, hilarious to talk about how my daughter is going to pick up all of my bad habits – that makes me feel like an awesome mother.  Everybody has an opinion and everybody thinks they know exactly how I feel, and 99% of the time it’s not anywhere close to how I feel… which makes me think I’m already doing everything wrong.  Also, every joke I make about drinking again is taken WAY to seriously… which – AGAIN – makes me feel like a shitty mother.

And it’s extra awesome because I know that it’s not going to get any better once she’s here.  In fact, it’s probably going to get worse.

And God forbid I actually try to complain, because then I’m reminded about how long it took me to get pregnant and I should just be grateful.  And if I don’t feel good, I shouldn’t complain because other’s have it worse.  And if I feel big, I shouldn’t complain because others are bigger.  And if I’m tired, I don’t even know what tired is, just wait until she gets here…

I used to feel left out of the “mom club” and so lonely because I was trying so hard to get pregnant and it just wasn’t happening.  But believe it or not, actually getting pregnant and going through this has felt even more lonely than before.  Sorry for such a downer post, but I am just so exhausted.  (Don’t worry.  I know I only think I’m exhausted now, just wait!)

I wasn’t going to post this because honestly I don’t want to talk to real people about it.  But I will, just to give a little more insight as to why the blog has been so dead the past few weeks.

I’ll be back once she’s here, promise.

A Little Mini Update

I’m still alive!  Promise!

Things are going well with little Olaf, too.  She’s moving a lot and we’re all getting ready to meet her.  We have an embarrassing amount of baby showers coming up, but I am super excited for each and every one of them.  I can’t believe she will be here in 6-ish weeks.  Insane.

I wanted to post today to let everyone know my reasoning behind the lack of blogging… I promise it’s not because I don’t love you all!

It’s because – believe it or not – I really am a pretty private person.  This blog was my way of tracking my training and talking about races and connecting with the running community.  When I got pregnant, I thought I could talk about all the baby things… but that makes me pretty uncomfortable.  Brandon and I have made a conscious (and unpopular) decision to keep our little one OFF of social media as much as possible.  Now, I am sure I will post some pictures from time to time… but there will be no “here’s her toes!” “here’s her ear!” “here’s what she wore this morning, and what she’s wearing now!” “oooh she just pooped!!!” etc etc etc etc etc.  This generation of children are the first ones to be born into a world of social media, where they do not have a choice what gets put out there.

I was in college when Facebook was invented.  I have chosen everything about me that has gone online.  I have made a LOT of mistakes in my younger years about that… but they were MY mistakes.  I don’t want my baby to grow up and have this archive of every little part of her life already online.  I refuse.  I won’t post anything on the internet that I wouldn’t want posted on the front page of the Dallas Morning News.  A huge milestone (that doesn’t have to do with potty training…) okay!  A family picture?  Absolutely!!  But that’s about it.

Anyways – back to my original point – I am just not really comfortable sharing too much about that part of my life in an arena where I’m not 100% sure who is exactly reading.  When it comes to training and racing, I don’t care who reads!  Lets all read and talk about how much fun running is.  When it comes to my kid?  Eeeeeh…. different story.

So, I promise to keep you all updated on the big stuff.  We’re ALMOST done with her nursery, and you bet I’ll be posting pictures of that!  When she gets here… you will be the first to know.  But my posting will most likely be pretty few and far between until I’m back in the saddle training again.  And you’ll probably get some pictures of some baby feet peeking out of the BOB stroller.  (which I know I am getting at one of my showers because my mom ((& dad)) ROCKS)

Just to preview what’s ahead… I already have my 2015 schedule down.

May – Spa Girl Triathlon.  This will be my first race after baby.  Completing the triathlon that I did while 12 weeks pregnant with my daughter cheering me on?  I can’t think of a better way to get back into the swing of things.  (Plus, the distances are all relatively short, so it won’t be overwhelming to train for!)

August – Dumbo Double Dare.  FINALLY.  Dad and I had to defer our registration this year to next year, and we are already talking about our training plans!  The double dare is a 10K on Saturday morning, and a Half Marathon on Sunday morning in Disneyland!  This will be a really fun trip, I don’t think my Dad has ever been to Disneyland……  we are still debating if it will be just the two of us, or if we will make it a big family affair…

November – Wine and Dine Half Marathon.  Again, FINALLY!  I have a bunch of friends running this year and I am SO SAD I will miss out (the race is literally on the day I am due!) – but I am probably MOST excited about this one.  We are going to go and bring along the whole family again… and one of the reasons is to celebrate baby’s first birthday!  I know she won’t remember, but really first birthdays are about the parents not the kid.  And I doubt her actual birthday will be during that time… but close enough!

There will be lots of 5ks thrown in there, maybe some 10ks and maybe even some more halfs…. but those three are my big goals for 2015.  I am really looking forward to getting back into training (and back into blogging!) when the time is right!!

Disney Day Five!

This is the SADDEST day because this is the day we went home.  However, just to make the magic last a little bit longer… I reserved a spot for a character breakfast for us that morning!  It was at Ohana’s at the Polynesian Resort.  That resort is currently under construction, but I have a feeling once they make the updates it will be really awesome!!!  I also really like how they served the food, family style!  They just brought over a big plate of everything and we served ourselves.  We could have as much or as little as we wanted – it was like a buffet but without having to get up and go walk and wait in line for food.  Brilliant!

Can you guess my favorite part of the meal?

The characters at this breakfast were Lilo, Stitch, Pluto, and Mickey!  Mom and Dad (and Brandon) really didn’t know anything about Lilo and Stitch – but I do (duh).  I actually had just watched Lilo and Stitch before we left!

Stitch was the only one with a photographer, so this is the only picture we have of all four of us.

I LOVE that picture of my parents.  LOVE LOVE LOVE!!!

After breakfast we went to Downtown Disney to do a little shopping, but didn’t stay very long.  I can’t even begin to tell you how hot it was, and I was officially worn out.  I did NOT want to walk, and I was sweaty and exhausted!  (So was everyone!)  So we headed to the airport (booo)…

At the airport, guess what we did while we waited for our flight?

I told you = pin trading had taken over the trip!!!!!!

It really was the BEST trip.  I really want to go back, right now.  And for those of you that are curious about going to Disney while 7 months pregnant?  No big deal.  I got a little more tired than usual, but there are enough places to sit and cool down… it’s all good!!!  Even after we got home… we still pretended we were there!

Now – on to the big news.  While we were on the trip, everyone kept telling me what a great job I did planning.  And I thought about it… and really, I did do a great job.  It was so much fun, and we really got the most out of our time there.  Plus, I absolutely ADORE planning the trips!!!  So, I have made the decision to become an Authorized Disney Vacation Planner.  It’s going to take some time – I need to find an agency in order to get the certification… and I won’t be able to devote myself full time to it – because I still have to work… but it is something I am really good at, and really enjoy doing.

So, in the future – I will be able to help OTHER people plan perfect Disney vacations!!!  And the best part about it is… it won’t cost THEM any extra money!  The way it works is great, the planners simply make a commission from Disney when they sell a package.  So it won’t cost the vacationers any extra money at all.  It actually will probably SAVE them money, because the planners spend a lot of time making sure that they are getting the best value out there.

I am REALLY looking forward to getting started, but who knows when that will be.  I have my information in to a few different agencies, and am just waiting to hear back.  They all have different training cycles, so hopefully I will get picked up with a good agency when they begin their next one!  Keep your fingers crossed for me!!!

Disney Day Four!

Ok!  I’m back!

Day four was the COOLEST day at Disney I have ever spent.  And that is NO exaggeration.  We signed up to do the Keys to the Kingdom tour – and it did NOT disappoint.  I learned SO much about Disney World and Walt Disney and how they run the park… PLUS we got to see stuff behind the scenes, and even got to go down into the Utilidoor system (the tunnels!) – which actually aren’t underground.  They are ground level.  The entire park is on the 2nd level.  The more you know…

We got to the park before it opened, and had a chance to snap some pictures of the castle before it got crazy…

(I’ve never seen Main Street so empty!!)

Dad also got some quality time with his favorite…

I can’t even begin to write about all the things we learned.  A part of me wants to, so I don’t forget… but then a part of me doesn’t want to, so if you ever decide to take the tour you’ll be just as captivated as we were.  We plan on doing it again one day, because we’re sure that a new tour guide will have new stories and it was seriously THAT MUCH FUN.  I do have to say it was kind of tough towards the end though… a LOT of walking and my hips were really starting to hurt.

I do have to tell you one thing though – all of the names in the windows have meaning.  They are all important people in building the park.  This window was my favorite – M.T. Lott (empty lot….) and all the “subsidiaries” on the window were the names of the fake corporations set up to slowly buy all the land to build the park.  It was pretty funny, they knew if Walt Disney started to buy land, it would all go up in price.  So Florida knew something was going on when all this land was getting purchased, but didn’t know what.  There were all these theories, and Disney was one of them!  So during an interview, a journalist straight up asked Walt if they were building a park.  His response was “absolutely not!  Florida is too hot, you cant build on a swamp, there are bugs and alligators, blah blah blah blah…” and went on for a while about why he could never build a park in Florida.  When the journalist got home she thought to herself “why on earth would he know so much about Central Florida?!?” so the next day she announced that yes, they were building Disney World in Orlando!!!  That forced Disney to announce early that she was right, and those were the plans.  Unfortunately they still had one more land purchase they needed (the last 10%) and that last 10% ended up costing significantly more than the entire other 90% put together!!  (he gave us numbers but I can’t remember…)

During the tour we also learned about Pin trading.  Boy oh boy was my Dad excited…

Needless to say, by the end of the trip we all had LOTS of pins, and had a LOT of fun trading them.  Dad still brings his pins over to my house when he visits to try to trade me…

After the tour we decided we really needed to cool off, so we hopped on the monorail and ended up finding a bar at the Contemporary Resort to hang out at for a bit.  Then, back to the park!  We rode some more rides, I got my pretzel, we met Tinkerbell, and before we knew it – it was fireworks time!

The jury is still out for me if the Fireworks Dessert Party was worth it.  The deserts were only so-so, and we were so stuffed from eating all day we didn’t even really eat much (I don’t think Dad had anything at all…) but the main point of us doing that was so we had a reserved place to watch the show.  We definitely had a nice, uncrowded view of the castle……. but it wasn’t my favorite view.  We were kind of off to the side, so the fireworks were next to the castle instead of behind it.  I only got one decent fireworks picture…

So, I guess it’s a recommended spot if you don’t want to stand on Main Street and wait.  But if you stand on Main Street… you’ll get the BEST view.  I prefer the view from Main Street, but for this trip I MORE preferred sitting down in a chair.  So it’s really a toss up!  It was also much harder to hear the music from the terrace party, which was kind of a bummer.  And there was a grandpa talking to his kid about how that was Mickey Mouse’s house and I wanted to stop him and say NO THAT IS CINDERELLA’S HOUSE NOT MICKEY’S HOUSE… but I just bit my tongue.

Final recap coming next!!  (can we go back now, please?)
