The Sunshine Award!!!

So – a LONG time ago, my girl Suz nominated me for this award and I was all tickled and excited and then life (er, lyfe) got in the way and I just never wrote out 10 facts about me because I am a bad, bad blogger friend.

But now?  Now I will let you know 10 facts.  Facts about me and Olaf… because that was a stipulation when I was nominated.  I do have to say, Olaf is only 16 weeks old so that’s a lot of facts for such a tiny fetus, but we’ll work with what we have.  I’ll toss Olaf in to some of these facts when I get a chance.

FACT #1: Science gave us Olaf!  After years of trying we finally found the right mixture of drugs to make my body work.  I have polycystic ovarian syndrome as well as luteal phase defect and lets just say that makes it very hard to make a baby.

FACT #2: My toenails are always painted red.  ALWAYS.  One time in college during rush I had to paint them “nude or light pink” and I thought I was going to have to drop out of my sorority.

FACT #3: I have a restaurant degree.  However… I never worked in the industry.  Well, okay… I worked in one restaurant, Chili’s, for two weeks when I was in high school.  I don’t think I even technically worked a real shift.  Restaurants are not my thing – I’ll eat at them every day, though.

FACT #4: I met the mister VERY drunk.  He was drunk too.  Like, he doesn’t remember anything from the night after the jagerbomb I got him at the bar.  He does remember me though, and that’s the important part.

FACT #5: I started running because Brandon gave me a funny look.  Dead serious.  About 3 or 4 years ago Al Roker ran the NYC Half Marathon.  I looked at Brandon and said, “Sheesh!  If Al Roker can do it then so can I!” and he looked at me funny and said “Um, that’s a lot of miles…” and walked off.  Challenge Accepted.  I can throw Olaf in this one too… OLAF IS SLOWING ME DOWN SO MUCH now but hey it’s cool I don’t care I never really was that fast to begin with.

FACT #6: I have two happy places – Maui and Disney.  I love these places so much I can’t even really think about them without my heart hurting.  I would love to travel and see other places and all that fun stuff, but if I am given the choice – my vacations would always be to one of those two places.  When I think about taking Olaf to Disney (November 2015 for sure…) I get choked up.  Like right now.  I cannot wait.

FACT #7: My hair curled out of nowhere when I was 22.  I had curly hair as a toddler, and then it got so straight it wouldn’t hold a curl if I paid it.  Then, one day, it just started curling.  Now it’s so curly it takes me days to straighten it.  I’m not complaining though – I love the curls.  When I was younger and struggling with my faith, I used to pray that if God were real, he would curl my hair.  He did, just 10 years later.  Funny, dude.

FACT #8: Olaf may be named Olaf.  I hate all the names.

FACT #9: My best friends are from the internet.  Not completely true – but mostly.  6 years ago I met a group of girls on The Knot while we were all planning Destination Weddings.  I am still in constant contact with the majority of them.  I travel to see them, and talk to them on a daily basis more than I do friends I have in real life.  They are in the process of voting to see if Olaf is Team Mickey or Team Minnie…  right now it’s 50% Mickey and 50% Minnie.  Seriously.

FACT #10: I didn’t drink until I was almost 22.  I got in some trouble as a kid, so spent the majority of my college days not drinking.  Wasn’t that big of a deal though.  One vacation I was on a cruise with the family and decided I’d give it a shot.  I had a frozen something or other and it was pretty good.  I never looked back.

And so there you have it.  Ten facts about me.  They aren’t too super exciting, and Olaf was in a few of them… but I’m really not that exciting of a person!  I mean I guess I am… but you’d think I would have had the time to put more substance in some of these facts seeing as it took me FOREVER to get around to writing them!!  Still… all pretty cool things you probably didn’t know about me and Olaf.

Thanks, Suz for the nomination!

XOXO

  1. I am so mad that my feed was messed up and I missed this. HOW CAN THIS BE HAPPENING TO ME. I think that Olaf should be named Olaf, boy or girl. Just saying. That is hilarious that your hair just went BOING and curled. Maybe because that’s when you started drinking? 🙂 I have a feeling science is going to be the reason that I have a Olaf or Olafette. I don’t see it happening naturally. Actually, scratch that, I know pretty darn well that it won’t happen naturally. I just hope that it happens.
Ps, I hope your husband learned his lesson, giving you quizzical looks and attitude. Shows him.
