Back to Reality

We had, hands down, one of the most amazing weekends ever last weekend.

Friday was pretty normal – I worked from home in the morning, Brandon went in for a few hours… we hit the road at about 3:00.  The drive down was uneventful, and we got there just in time for dinner.  We ended up going to this place called Huisache Grill & Wine Bar and it was delicious.  The first thing we asked our server when we sat down is “how the hell do you pronounce the name of this place?!?”  – Its “wee-chee” just in case you were curious.

Anyways, we had a great dinner and great wine.  During dinner, Chelsea asked me if I brought my running clothes and I was SO PUMPED – because YES I HAD!  So she said she found this awesome “dam road” that was completely flat and beautiful and perfect for running.  I was in.  We woke up early the next morning and headed that way.  It was SO FOGGY when we were driving it was mildly terrifying… and then all of the sudden ALL the fog was gone.  We got to the top of the dam and it was beautiful!!!  I was so thankful that Chelsea found a FLAT place for us to go run because I do not like hills – and the hills in the hill country are serious.

It was beautiful up there.  I couldn’t even handle it.  The weather was perfect and the views were amazing and Chelsea is a great running partner.  We took it easy and talked and ran and it was awesome.  We got to the end and turned around to go back… and oh hey… there’s that fog…

In a matter of SECONDS our amazing view was completely gone and we were in a giant cloud!  We couldn’t believe it.  In the top left picture above you can see the cloud whisping up over the dam road… it was too strange!  It was a little sad that the lake was completely gone… but at the same time it was awesome.  We ran in a cloud!

This was just the very beginning of one of the most fun days ever in the history of my life.  After the run we came back to the house, went down to the river for breakfast mimosas, and then spent the rest of the day hopping around from winery to winery and eating lots of cheese – ending on an early bird special dinner at a fantastic local organic restaurant.  The weather was amazing and I can’t wait to show you the rest of the pictures!

The amazing weather on Saturday was replaced with gross cold wet icy nasty stuff on Sunday.  I was lucky and didn’t have any issues flying home last night (actually was able to get on an earlier flight!) but my office is currently on a delayed opening until 10 am today.  The roads are gross and icy.  Hopefully I won’t have too much trouble getting to the office later today.

So, that’s it for now folks.  I’ll fill you in on the rest of the trip later this week!
